Viewers Corner News gathered that President Joseph Kabila of Democratic Republic of Congo through the country’s electoral commission has successfully shifted the originally scheduled November 2016 presidential election to 2018. According to the information, Corneille Nangaa (country’s electoral commission president) stated recently that voter registration lists will not be ready until July 2017 and the electoral commission needs 504 days to organize the election hence the shift to 2018 ending. This two year delay of Congo’s presidential election is likely to cause more unrest in the country, last week dozens of Congolese died after security forces clashed with anti-government demonstrators who were against the election delay.
President Joseph Kabila’s tenure of office supposed to end in December 2016 but the election postponement means that he will stay in office till 2018 ending when the country’s presidential election would be conducted, this is terrible.
