DEMI-LEIGH NEL-PETERS, A SOUTH AFRICAN MODEL AND BEAUTY QUEEN HAS WON 2017 MISS UNIVERSE, CONGRATULATIONS.

Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, a 22 year old South African model and beauty queen was crowned 2017 Miss Universe on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the AXIS theatre (Planet Hollywood, Las Vegas). Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters who recently graduated with business management degree will earn a salary, a luxury apartment in New York City and more prizes throughout the duration of her reign (one year). Miss Colombia (Laura Gonzalez) is the runner-up while Davina Bennett (Miss Jamaica) is the second runner-up. Ninety-two women around the world participated in this year’s Miss Universe with Cambodia, Laos and Nepal having representatives for the first time since the contest started. Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters will succeed the current Miss Universe, Iris Mittenaere from France. She (Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters) is the second person in south Africa to win the Miss Universe title, the first was Margaret Gardiner, 1978 Miss Universe. Steve Harvey hosted the show while Fergie (Grammy-Award winner) and Rachel Platten (pop star) provided the musical entertainment. This year’s judges were Lele Pons (YouTube star), Jay Manuel (ex judge of America’s Next Top Model) and Wendy Fitzwilliam of Trinidad and Tobago (the 1998 Miss Universe winner).
