Viewers Corner’s extensive research revealed that governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State (Nigeria) is among the worst corrupt governors Ebonyi state citizens may never trust again. Viewers Corner’s research carried us to some towns and villages in Ebonyi state (Nigeria) to see things for ourselves, what we saw was so terrible and nothing so good to write home about. The indigenes of Ebonyi state who voted for governor David Umahi before he became the governor of Ebonyi state can barely eat good meals. The sufferings in the state is really bad and the governor is not doing anything about it.
The indigenes working in various departments in the state including the press were transferred or sent to another departments where no one may have the privilege of expressing his/her views about the governor David Umahi. This is not fair because democracy is the government of the people and everyone has right to voice out his/her opinion on any issue without fear or favour. Again, in the controversial governorship election held in 2015, which brought David Umahi to power as the governor of Ebonyi state, Viewers Corner knew exactly what happened, like when the former governor of Ebonyi state, Mr. Martin Elechi was the governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi then as the deputy governor of Ebonyi state instigated the workers in Ebonyi state to force Martin Elechi to increase their salaries by 50% and during the campaign of David Umahi, he promised to increase the worker’s salary by 100%. As it is now, even the 50% or the 100% salary increment has not been paid to Ebonyians since David Umahi resumed office as the governor of Ebonyi state.
Viewers Corner’s main concern now is about the welfare of the indigenes of Ebonyi state that are facing difficulties. No good food to eat, no infrastructural facilities etc. Another sad aspect is that Ebonyi state is a virgin state that would have been governed by an individual with a humanitarian heart, certainly not this present governor, Mr. David Umahi and why Ebonyi state would have been very easy to govern is that the state is not so large and the allocation given to the state, if properly utilized, would have been more than enough to create opportunities for all the indigenes of Ebonyi state. Sometimes ago, governor David Umahi donated some items as a gift to the internally displaced citizens of Nigeria in the northern part of the country as a result of what the Boko Haram terrorist group caused. This is nice and Viewers Corner commended him for this kind gesture but like the saying goes that charity begins at home, what we are trying to express here is that you have to rebuild your home first and at the same time giving your gift to whosoever you choose to. Honestly there is no question about that but you should always remember that the Ebonyi state indigenes need your help more.
Viewers Corner also noted that in line with the corrupt practices going on in Ebonyi state which governor David Umahi is allegedly involved in, based on Viewers Corner’s findings, we discovered that governor David Umahi built his private mansion which is located at Adamu Aliero street, Maitama in Abuja (Nigeria) and this beautiful mansion was commissioned two weeks ago.

The plots of land where this beautiful mansion was built is about 5 plots which total cost is six hundred million naira (N600,000,000) and in this Area, Adamu Aliero street, Maitama in Abuja, each plot of land is about one hundred and fifty million naira (N150,000,000). This is only the cost for buying the land where this mansion is erected. Now think of the cost of building this mansion in Abuja when only the plots is N600 million. Therefore, the total cost for building this mansion runs into billions of naira and this is a governor that is barely four months in office. Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has collected more than twenty billion naira as allocation for Ebonyi state since he took over office four months ago as the governor of Ebonyi state. This is unbelievable, knowing fully well that workers in Ebonyi state have not been paid their salaries for months but he has billions to invest on his private property, this is too bad. The indigenes of Ebonyi state lack almost all the basic amenities to keep life going. This is carelessness and recklessness. Viewers Corner calls this corruption at the highest level, indiscipline and injustice given to all the indigenes of Ebonyi state. Please let us be realistic here, Viewers Corner is not saying that you should not build your mansion but you should put the indigenes of Ebonyi state first before any other private venture. Again, Viewers Corner’s interest on this issue is that we are concerned citizens of this world and care so much about the welfare of the citizens of this beautiful world created by the Almighty God.
Therefore, Viewers Corner is appealing that governor David Umahi retrace his footsteps and find out where he made mistakes and kindly amend them. Again, there is always a reward for every good thing we do to assist our fellow human beings. Honestly governor David Umahi, CHANGE has come to Nigeria, we mean real CHANGE and the time is now to adopt it right into your system so that the indigenes of Ebonyi state will enjoy the dividends of democracy.
