COLOMBIANS MADE HISTORY AS LEFT-WING CLAUDIA LOPEZ WAS ELECTED FIRST WOMAN MAYOR IN BOGOTA.

The 49 year old Journalist turned politician, Claudia Lopez was on Sunday, 27 October elected the first woman mayor in Bogota, Colombia. Claudia Lopez who is known for her commitment to fighting corruption is a member of Green Alliance party and a vice-presidential candidate in the 2018 election. In Colombia, the position of mayor of Bogota is the most influential political position after the presidency. The country’s Sunday elections were the first at the regional and local level since the signing of the controversial peace deal between the government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), which ended a bloody 52-year conflict.
