It was reported that eleven (11) people were killed while more than fifty others were seriously wounded in Chicago (United States) shootings over the weekend. According to the report, between 3 p.m. Friday and Monday morning, 11 people were killed and 63 were wounded, their ages ranges from 11 to 62 years old.
The shootings happened mostly on the South and West sides of the city and the shooters targeted large groups at a block party, a funeral and other outdoor gatherings. Fred Waller (Chicago police chief of patrol) blamed the attacks on gang members who shot into the crowds.
Chicago experiences violence frequently; not less than 1,700 people have been shot in the city this year (2018), fewer than the number recorded in 2017 and 2016. May the souls of those killed in the attack rest in peace.
