The ex-Nissan chief, Carlos Ghosn has fled Japan for Lebanon. According to the report our correspondent gathered, Carlos Ghosn who was awaiting trial in Japan for financial misconduct fled to Lebanon to avoid rigged Japanese justice system. The Lebanese authority said that Ghosn entered Beirut legally and would not face any legal consequences, but Ghosn’s lawyer (Junichiro Hironaka) stated on Tuesday that he was dumfounded by his client’s departure to Lebanon and does not know how to contact him. Ghosn holds Lebanon’s citizenship and the country has no extradition agreement with Japan. Carlos Ghosn in a statement on Tuesday, 31 December said that he did not fled justice but escaped injustice and political persecution. He also said that he would no longer be held hostage by a rigged Japanese justice system where guilt is presumed, discrimination is rampant and basic human rights are denied. The 65-year-old Ghosn was accused of financial misconduct and raiding of corporate resources for personal gain. Mr Ghosn denied all allegations.
