CALLS FROM SOME NIGERIANS TO SELL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT ASSETS AND USE THE PROCEEDS TO REVAMP THE ECONOMY OF THE COUNTRY IS NOT A GOOD IDEA, PLEASE DROP THE IDEA.

Selling Nigeria refineries or any other federal government investment is like robbing Peter to pay Paul which is not a good idea. No matter how we look at it, even if the refineries are sold assuming, how are we sure that the proceeds from the sales would be channeled towards economic development or managed properly to revamp the dying economy of the country (Nigeria)? Everyone should weigh both options carefully, right now the country is facing real economic hardship which everyone is aware of and such condition is also affecting other countries of the world, still they found solutions to solve their economic problems without having to sell their national assets to get out of their economic difficulties. President Buhari’s government should look for investors abroad to come and invest in the country (Nigeria). We (Viewers Corner News team) believe that restructuring the economy of the country (Nigeria) would be a better option, the government should create attractive conditions for investors to come into the country and invest. This is one of the ways Nigeria may get out of this recession, it may not happen over night but let us get started now and see how it goes.
Another important aspect is agriculture, Nigerian government should adopt mechanized farming system to feed her growing population. Even if an individual does not have enough money in his pocket but the little he or she has should at least be enough to buy him or her some good food to eat. The federal government of Nigeria should make adequate provision for this farming method. The reason people are feeling the terrible effect of the recession is that there is no abundant food in the country, even when you see some to buy, the prices would be too high for the ordinary person to pay but when there is enough food in the country then it would not be so difficult the way it is at the moment. Please do not sell your refineries as some Nigerians suggested, such idea would hurt Nigeria terribly in the long run. It is very hard at the moment but it would get better as time goes on, what the country (Nigeria) needs right now is restructuring the economy of the country and once that is done, a better approach to end the recession would be found. This is food for thought.
