The trial of some military officers who planned to topple the government of Pierre Nkurunziza, the self imposed President of Burundi has ended. Four of them bagged life jail and they are, the former defence minister, Cyrille Ndayirukiye, Zenon Ndabaneze, Juvenal Niyungeko and one police general, Hermenegilde Nimenya. Nine officers from both the army and police were also sentenced to 30 years each and seven others were acquitted including Prime Ngowenubusa. Viewers Corner call this a total miscarriage of justice.
If the self imposed President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza had obeyed the constitution of the land (Burundi) which stated that no sitting President of Burundi will be in office for more than two terms then there would not have been need to plan any coup against the President but because the self imposed President Pierre Nkurunziza completed his tenure and refused to step down as required by the constitution of Burundi, then after series of appeals which the self imposed President ignored was the reason why a coup was carried out but unfortunately the men failed. Right now, the country Burundi has turn into a killing field, lots of innocent people have been killed because of only one man who has refused to step down as required by the constitution. This is very wrong. Viewers Corner’s concern is the killings of innocent citizens of the country by the government of Pierre Nkurunziza, lots of intimidation going on in the country but one thing we know for sure is that there is time for everything we do in life. A day will surely come when this self imposed President of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza will pay for all the pains he has caused the citizens of Burundi. He is a dictator and shall never be allowed to go free no matter how long it may take. Justice must surely be done someday, is just a matter of time.
We (Viewers Corner) are sincerely appealing to the African Union to please hastening up and send the African peace keeping force to the country (Burundi) as quickly as they can because innocent lives are being lost on daily basis in the country (Burundi) which is not supposed to be. Please the time to act is now because tomorrow may be too late.
