Bukola Saraki’s alleged false assets declaration should have been a wake up call for him to resign from his post as the senate president of Nigeria instead of waiting for a court verdict. Honestly if it were in some countries abroad, for the simple reason that his (Bukola Saraki) name was mentioned on an issue such as false assets declaration which he knew was against the law of the land, he would have resigned and remain with his honour. Quest for power would not allow him to do so, this attitude is also happening among other politicians in the country (Nigeria). They would manipulate and carry billions of Naira from the Nigeria treasury with impunity to other foreign banks. If somewhere along the line, luck went against them, instead of them rendering apology to the Nigeria people and at the same time stepping down from their posts, no they would prefer to hang on there because their cabals would at the end save them from prosecution and the matter ends there. This is a very terrible situation and no country anywhere in the world can move forward with this sort of attitude. Look at Bukola Saraki’s issue for example, even a layman can understand what went wrong but still he is denying his mistakes and said that everything was done by him in accordance with the law of the land (Nigeria). Again we (Viewers corner) also gathered that some huge amount of money was allegedly deposited in his bank account up to the tune of 900, 000 Naira fifty times per day. How possible can this be assuming he has nothing to hide? This is because the system is corrupt if not no bank anywhere in the world can accept such dirty transaction and if not that Buhari’s government has promised to stamped out corruption in the country, all these issues would not have been made known to the Nigerian public. Only God Almighty knows for how long these terrible atrocities has been ongoing in the country.
If corruption is cured in Nigeria which is the major hindrance to development then the Nigerian people under the leadership of president Buhari and his government would have reasons to be happy in the long run. This is why every Nigerian should support his government because he can not do it alone, he needs the assistance of all Nigerians to be successful. It is true that things are very hard in the country (Nigeria) at the moment but as time goes on, it will surely be alright for all Nigerians.
