BUKOLA SARAKI (THE NIGERIA SENATE PRESIDENT), AN ALLEGED CORRUPT SYNDICATE IS STILL PRESIDING OVER NATIONAL ISSUES UP TILL TODAY AND NO ONE IN NIGERIA IS TALKING ABOUT IT. WHICH WAY WOULD NIGERIA GO FROM HERE?

When Panama scandal broke out, lots of people named in that scandal were sanctioned by their governments, even the citizens of those countries were protesting on daily basis asking those leaders to step down because they betrayed the trust the citizens of their various countries had for them. Some of these affected leaders resigned from their positions peacefully without waiting to be thrown out of office which is the right thing to do meaning that democracy is at work. These were leaders with conscience and know that they have committed a terrible offence against their people and at the same time have broken the law of their lands, but it is only in Nigeria that we still have those that allegedly embezzled trillions of Naira and still be in office. Instead of asking them to step down, the citizens would be singing praises for them. Look at the senate president of Nigeria (Bukola Saraki), so many scandals tied around his neck both in Nigeria and outside the country, his family’s name was mentioned in the Panama scandal and he is still leading the senate till today. In Kwara state, he has lots of alleged corruption issues to settle there, he is also facing the tribunal on false assets declaration charges. Not too long ago, he hired the services of almost hundreds lawyers to defend him because he can afford it, he allegedly used public funds at will both in the past and probably now. Normally with all these sort of scandals and allegations against him, such a man should not have occupied such important position in the country (Nigeria), he should step aside because he has lots of skeletons in his cupboard and until all the allegations against him are cleared, he should not contest for any position in the country. This is how a successful democratic system of government should operate in any country that practise such system.
If Nigeria wants to be corruption free, this is one of the steps to be adopted, people with questionable characters should stay aside and let the clean ones take a lead. Another surprising part of it is that some lawyers who are supposed to advise him (Bukola Saraki) are the ones aiding him, how can a country move forward with such attitude? Even the case at the tribunal is one such example, each time a sitting is schedule, Bukola Saraki’s lawyers would always come up with excuses so as to delay the tribunal proceedings and if care is not taken, the tribunal may be on this Bukola Saraki’s case until president Buhari’s tenure comes to an end and that would be the end of this case. You see how some of the rich people in Nigeria would use their ill-gotten wealth to frustrate their trials while thousands of Nigerians with lesser offences are still in jail because no one is there to speak for them. However anyone that have nothing to fight back should resort to prayers which is the greatest weapon hoping that someday God Almighty would redeem the situation for the less privilege ones in the country (Nigeria). Again we are concerned citizens of the world and would always give advice when it is necessary to do so.
