It was reported that the British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson will meet European Union President, Ursula von der Leyen in London on Wednesday ahead of the opening rounds of trade talks that will commence immediately Britain formally leaves the European Union on 31 January 2020. According to the report, the two leaders would discuss whether to enter into a new trade relationship in the transition period that will follow until December 2020. Following the Brexit deadline set out by Boris Johnson, the legislation that is needed to implement Brexit deal will be taken to parliament for further scrutiny on Tuesday. During her visit, Von der Leyen is also expected to give lecture titled “Old Friends, New Beginnings: building another future for the EU-UK partnership” at the London School of Economics.
