Viewers Corner’s correspondent in Beijing (China) learnt that Chinese authorities are planning to build ventilation corridors in Beijing in order to facilitate air flow and control air pollutants in the capital city. According to report, the ventilation corridors will connect the Beijing’s parks, rivers, highways along with their green belts and also low building blocks thereby relieving the city from air pollution. Wang Fei, deputy head of Beijing’s urban planning committee stated that five major ventilation corridors have been designed and will be more than 500 metres in width while some secondary corridors will be over 80 metres wide. These five major ventilation corridors would run from the northern suburban areas to the south and one corridor will run through the central axis of Beijing from Taiping Suburban Park in the north through the Olympic Park, the Temple of Heaven, all the way to the Beijing-Shanghai Highway in the southern end of the city.
In November and December 2015, Beijing experienced the heaviest smog and residents always wear masks while many own air purifiers.
