BAUCHI STATE’S DEBT (NIGERIA) IS OVER 100 BILLION NAIRA AND ANOTHER 3.5 BILLION NAIRA TO BUY CARS FOR GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS HAS ALLEGEDLY BEEN BORROWED.

This is what you get when you elect incompetent leaders to office. Most people in Nigeria believe that it is only through joining politics in the country (Nigeria) that can make them rich, hence they are going all out to make sure that they secure a place in whichever political party in the country (Nigeria) that can give them the opportunity to have a breakthrough. Again, during campaign, politicians scramble for votes and at that period they promise voters everything so that they can be elected to office, but immediately that process has been completed, then looting of government treasury starts. If you look around all the states across Nigeria, most governors have borrowed huge sum of money as loans from various financial institutions on-behalf of their states, all in the name of executing projects but some of those loans they collected end up in their private pockets, leaving the states with huge debts. If you visit most of those states owing billions of Naira which they claimed was used to build infrastructures, you would not find anywhere such money was used, meaning that it was borrowed and shared among themselves. Another point is that most state governors have no idea of what leadership is all about. Look at Bauchi state (Nigeria) for example, their number one priority is to spend about 3.5 billion Naira on cars for government officials. What about those voters who made it possible for them to be in those positions? Of course, they are all living in abject poverty which is bad. Our (Viewers Corner News team) point is this; first work to improve the welfare of those people in your various states who elected you to office by creating jobs for them before ever thinking of yourself, this should be the first step as an elected leader of your state in a democratic system. Provide infrastructural facilities for the people of your various states using the available resources within the state to achieve that purpose so that as you are driving your big cars to office, those who elected you to that position of authority would also have some comfort which is what a good leader should do at all times. Governors would come to office and incur huge debts for their states, move to the senate to continue their looting practice and no one in Nigeria would challenge them or even ask a question which is bad. If ex-governors who ruined their states can be punished after their tenure expires, then those who are coming into office with the intention to loot the state treasury would sit tight and get the job done the right way. Look at Nigeria’s Senate today, most ex-governors there ruined their states and now they are the ones making laws for the people of the country (Nigeria). In this situation, how can Nigeria as country move forward? Honestly the country (Nigeria) and her citizens need a different approach if they really want to achieve progress. A change of ideas is required to achieve greatness which Viewers Corner News team is advocating for in Nigeria. Please join us to carry this issue forward where only credible and competent leaders would be elected to office to run the affairs of the country (Nigeria).
