Our correspondent reported that the Thursday car bomb attack in Shash Darak (a heavily fortified area near US embassy in Kabul) which killed ten people including US and Romania soldiers has been claimed by the Taliban. Also about 42 people were wounded in the attack. This is the second major attack in Kabul this week while a US envoy has been in Kabul briefing Afghan officials on a US-Taliban deal. Some hours after, the Taliban set off another car bomb outside Afghan military base, killing four civilians. A NATO Resolute Support mission also said that its two service members were killed in the attack. The Taliban has been holding peace talks with the United States in Doha, Qatar. President Ashraf Ghani said after the attacks that peace with a group that is still killing innocent people is meaningless.
