Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent reported that at least seven people were shot dead and about 19 others injured when a gunman went on shooting rampage in Odessa and Midland (Western Texas) on Saturday, 31 August before police shot him dead. According to the report, the incident started when Texas Department of Public Safety officers stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation on a Midland highway, the driver then opened fire on the officers, motorists and passers-by in several locations as he was driving away. At a point, he abandoned his car and stole a United States postal vehicle. The police later shot him dead near a cinema. The shooter was identified as a 36-year-old Seth Ator. Three police officers were injured in the incident. A 17-month-old child was struck in his face by a bullet fragment and was airlifted to hospital. This is the second shooting in Texas in August 2019, exactly four weeks 22 people were shot dead by a gunman in El Paso and nine killed the next day by another gunman in Dayton, Ohio.
