This is the hard truth about voters in Nigeria, everything should not be about the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari. Every month the federal government of Nigeria pays allocation to all states of the federation which the governors of every state is expected to use properly and build things that would better the lives of their people in their respective states but unfortunately those governors elected to office would corner the allocations and convert them to private use, leaving the people of their various states to suffer an unending hardship. Look at Abia state for example, starting from when ex-governor Orji Kalu was the governor of that state, he did basically nothing in his state. He enriched himself and his family while the people of Abia state suffer in abject poverty. Flood overtook some part of the state (Abia state), Ariaria market in Aba is no go area as a result of poor drainage system but every month Abia state gets allocation from federal government to put thing right which he (ex-governor Orji Kalu) converted to his personal use. His successor (Theodore Orji) did the same and the current governor is still doing the same thing. Salaries of workers and pensioners allowances are not paid as at when due which is bad. The same goes to Kogi state, governor Yahaya Bello who is a young man everyone believes would use the state’s allocations and the internal generated revenues to build great things, has not done much impressive job as people of the state expected. Again, Nigerians should not forget that allocations to all states of the federation get to them on monthly basis but what the governors do with the money is less than what is expected of them while the major part of the allocation goes into their private pockets which is bad. We therefore blame the Nigerian voters who would collect bribes from governorship candidates and cast their votes for them even when they know that they are corrupt. In Edo state, Pastor Ize-Iyamu who was the PDP governorship candidate was seen during campaign sharing various items to women including money so that they could vote for him. If he had won the governorship election, by now he would have started drawing plans on how to recover what he spent on the voters which would at the end shortchanged the people of Edo state. If Nigerian voters can vote for competence, then they can be sure of good governance, hence Viewers Corner News team is appealing to voters in Nigeria to always vote for those who can do the job and at the same time carry everyone along.
