Angela Merkel of Germany wants the Tunisian government to speed up the deportation process of the Tunisian asylum seekers whose applications for asylum were rejected in Germany. She said this on Friday during her phone conversation with the Tunisian president (Beji Caid Essebsi). On Friday, December 23, 2016, a 24-year-old Tunisian, Anis Amri (the main suspect in the Berlin truck tragedy at a Christmas market whose asylum seeking in Germany was rejected) was shot dead in Milan by the Italian police. Angela Merkel expressed her gratitude to the Italian authorities especially the two Italian police officers (Christian Movio and Luca Scata) who shot Anis Amri dead when he opened fire on police in Milan who stopped him for a routine ID check. The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility on the Berlin Christmas market attack which killed 12 people and injured 56 on Monday, December 19, 2016.
