AN EGYPTIAN COURT HAS SENTENCED THREE AL-JAZEERA REPORTERS TO 3 YEARS IN JAIL.

On Saturday, August 29, 2015, an Egyptian court in Cairo sentenced three Al-Jazeera journalists to three years in jail. The journalists are Baher Mohamed from Egypt, Canadian Mohamed Fahmy and Australian Peter Greste. The verdict has sparked outrage worldwide and different organizations have criticized the ruling, saying that it represents a setback for freedom of expression in Egypt. Viewers Corner News correspondent learnt that Fahmy and Mohamed who were on bail ahead of the verdict after spending more than 400 days in detention have returned to prison while Peter Greste was sentenced in absentia. According to report, these three journalists have been sentenced without any good evidence to support the charges against them.
