AN ASSAILANT STABBED A POLICEMAN WITH A KNIFE ON TUESDAY IN FRONT OF BRUSSELS MAIN POLICE STATION BEFORE BEING SHOT.

It was reported that a Brussels police officer was stabbed and injured by an assailant in front of the city’s central police station near Grand Place in Brussels’ historic center. Officers got to the scene, shot the suspect and arrested him. It is yet to be determined if the attack is related to terrorism. The attack came during a two-day visit to Belgium by President Emmanuel Macron of France. On his visit to Belgium, there would be talks on how to improve security co-operation between the two countries and President Emmanuel Macron would visit the Brussels district of Molenbeek (home of some of the jihadists who carried out the 2015 Paris attacks that left 130 people dead).
Belgium has been on alert since 2016 when 32 people were killed by suicide bombers at Brussels airport and on the city’s metro.
