Few sincere governors and others from the northern part of Nigeria were in support of the All Progressives Congress (APC) zoning its presidential ticket to the south, but recently, they started having doubts because of the statements coming from the southern part of the country, saying that they “must” produce the next president of Nigeria. Normally, in a democracy, the majority wins the vote, which is why the Viewers Corner News team believes that the north would have the upper hand when it comes to election matters, taking into consideration their population. Therefore, the south using words like “must” produce the next president of Nigeria is like dictating for the northerners that whether they like it or not, they have to agree with them, which in our opinion is not right. Such a statements in a democracy is not welcomed. Democracy is about dialogue and negotiations, and not a must do thing. The Viewers Corner News team would use this opportunity to plead with the northern leaders and their supporters not to deviate from their early statement of supporting the south to produce the next president of Nigeria. Supporting the south to produce the next president of Nigeria will bring unity among all regions of the country.
