The good works of the leaders of the Sahel states in Africa have given Africans, both at home and abroad, reasons to start calling on the military across Africa to take control of the economy of their various countries. Those who wrote to the Viewers Corner News office said that democracy has failed all countries on the continent of Africa completely. So it would be better if other countries in Africa started calling for the military to come and direct the affairs of all the countries in Africa. We ask why. The reason they gave was that running a democratic system of government in Africa is very expensive, and the corruption associated with such a system is so huge. But in a military government, based on the achievements of the Sahel states, they believe that the military would do better. Recently, it was alleged that some ex-ministers, during the past democratic government in Mali, stole over 80 billion CFA while the people of Mali languished in abject poverty until the military took over power. Now things have improved greatly since the military government came to power in Mali, which is nice. The same goes for Burkina Faso and Niger, who are working so hard to make their countries great. Again, if you compare the achievements of the Sahel states to other countries in Africa that claimed to be running a democratic system of government, you can see the difference. Those countries running a democratic system in Africa have wasted too much money; they keep on borrowing money from the World Bank and sharing it among themselves. As alleged, corruption is everywhere under the democratic system; leaders cannot create jobs for the people of their various countries, which is so sad. Hence, most Africans are no longer in support of a democratic system. But then, in our opinion, we believe that democracy is the best system of government when it is practiced rightly.
