Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Beijing reported that activist Joshua Wong has been disqualified from running in the upcoming District Council elections which will be held next month. Joshua Wong on Tuesday confirmed the news that he was barred from vying for a seat in the November 24, 2019 election. Joshua Wong gained international recognition for his leadership role in the 2014 Occupy protests and has strongly supported Hong Kong for self-determination. He was one of those activists planning to contest in the upcoming elections in order to turn Hong Kong street protests into electoral victories. Wong was among the activists arrested since the protests began. He was recently released on bail and faces his next court hearing on 8 November, 2019.
