ABOUT TWO THOUSAND PRISONERS ARE TO BE FREED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF JOSEPH KABILA OF DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO.

Viewers Corner News correspondent in Kinshasa, the capital city of Democratic Republic of Congo learnt that about two thousand (2,000) prisoners in the country (Democratic Republic of Congo) will be released this month, January 2016. According to report, the Minister of Justice, Alexis Thambwe who made the news known to the public recently said the essence of releasing these prisoners is to reduce overcrowding of the country’s prisons and also to calm political tensions in the country ahead of this year’s country national election. Prisons in the Democratic Republic of Congo are known to be overpopulated and multiple deaths have been recorded as a result of inmates’ suffocation in the prison. Viewers Corner News appreciates this move taken by the Democratic Republic of Congo’s government in setting some inmates in the country free. We will also advise the government of Joseph Kabila to provide necessary opportunities for these prisoners when they come out in order to ensure that they are fully integrated into the system so as to prevent them from going back to the crimes that took them to the prison. They should be provided with good living conditions, job opportunities etc., and if this is done, the aim of setting them free will be achieved.
