ABOUT ONE HUNDRED (100) MIGRANTS ARE SUSPECTED TO HAVE DROWNED AFTER THEIR BOAT CAPSIZED OFF LIBYA’S WESTERN COAST.

It was reported that about one hundred (100) migrants may have drowned after their boat capsized east of the Libyan capital of Tripoli. Ayoub Gassim (the coastguard spokesman) who made the information known to the public on Friday stated that 14 survivors were rescued from the migrant boat while the bodies of three children were recovered near Tripoli (Libya’s capital). Three smuggling boats carrying 345 migrants were also intercepted by the Libyan coast guard east of Tripoli. Libya is one of the main departure points for migrants (from Africa and Middle East) who are trying to flee from their countries to Europe due to civil war and poverty.
