Viewers Corner News correspondent gathered that about 51 teachers have been arrested by Turkish authorities over suspected links to the country’s last year failed coup. On Monday, November 20, 2017, Turkish authorities issued arrest warrant for 107 teachers whom the government accused of having links with Fethullah Gulen (a cleric who has lived in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999) who Turkey government blames for the failed coup in July 2016. Fethullah Gulen has since denied the allegation of being involved in the coup. Over 150,000 people in Turkey including the public servants, the military personnel and the teachers have been fired from their jobs and about 50,000 people detained pending trial in the country’s crackdown.
