The 82-year-old law maker, Louise Bishop who was accused of taking $1,500 in cash from an informant posing as a lobbyist pleaded no contest in the court on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 and agreed to resign from her seat. Louise Bishop has served for 27 years in the House and she will be on probation for six months. She will also pay restitution that includes $5,000 for the cost of prosecuting her and may not seek elective office again.
Viewers Corner is reporting on this case of Representative Louise Bishop in order to let politicians and other political office holders in Africa especially Nigeria know how a good conscience individual behaves. Even if all evidence are pointing on Nigerian politicians that he/she stole money from the government, he/she will shamelessly holds the position tight and equally be pleading not guilty in the court thereby wasting the court precious time and resources to do other important things. Normally a politicians who is caught in the act of corruption should honourably resign from his seat and apologize to the public for such act and this will help to move the country forward.
Therefore, Viewers Corner is appealing to all corrupt politicians and political office holders in Africa especially Nigeria to honourably resign from their posts and apologize for looting the economy.
