A MEMORABLE OLYMPIC FOR BRAZILIANS, NEYMAR DELIVERED GOLD MEDAL TO HIS COUNTRY IN MEN’S SOCCER ON SATURDAY AT MARACANA STADIUM (BRAZIL).

Neymar, a 24-year old Brazilian professional footballer and Barcelona player has delivered a gold medal to Brazil in men’s soccer Olympic final by defeating Germany 5-4 in penalty kicks. Though the win against Germany on Saturday will not undo the humiliation and embarrassment of the 2014 World Cup where Germany scored 7-1 against Brazil in the semi-finals of the World Cup but at least it provides a recovery to the country (Brazil). Neymar scored for Brazil in the 27th minute of the tournament but the jubilation was short-lived when the Germany captain, Maximilian Meyer equalized in the 59th minute making it 1-1. The match went on penalty kicks after it ended in a draw following extra-time. Nils Petersen of Germany missed Germany’s fifth penalty kick thereby leaving Neymar who scored his penalty kick to earn Brazil a gold medal at Maracana Stadium.
This is the first time Brazil is winning gold medal in Olympic soccer, Brazil have won World Cup five times but never had a gold medal before. Congratulations to Brazil.
