A JUDGE IN THE UNITED STATES HAS SENTENCED IBRAHIM AKASHA (A MEMBER OF KENYA’S AKASHA DRUG TRAFFICKING ORGANIZATION) TO 23 YEARS IN PRISON.

Ibrahim Akasha, a 31 year old member of Kenya’s Akasha drug trafficking organization has been sentenced to 23 years in prison by U.S District Judge Victor Marrero in Manhattan federal court. Ibrahim Akasha was sentenced to 23 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to trafficking heroin and methamphetamine and other crimes. Ibrahim Akasha’s brother (Baktash Akasha), the former leader of organization was sentenced to 25 years in prison last year August for the similar crimes. Assistant U.S Attorney Jason Richman urged Judge Victor Marrero to give Ibrahim Akasha a similar sentence like his brother Baktash because he committed the same crimes with his brother and also engaged in extreme violence. The two brothers were arrested in November 2014 in Mombasa, Kenya during a U.S-led operation in which authorities provided 99 kilograms (218 lbs) of heroin and two kilograms of methamphetamine to DEA informants posing as drug traffickers. Both Ibrahim Akasha and his brother pleaded guilty in October 2018.
