The decision made by a court in Nigeria to free a former Nigerian judge believed by majority of Nigerians to have been involved in Corruption related offences is very surprising or could it be that the trial judge was trying to protect one of his colleagues? However the court has the final say in matters of this sort but our take on this is that something was not right concerning the judgement because real evidence was made available by the prosecuting counsel which showed that the judge was involved in a dirty deal but since the court has already pronounced no guilty verdict, it is only normal that everyone respects the decision of the court. However we would use this opportunity to plead with the Nigerian law court to be neutral when handling cases that are brought before the law courts in Nigeria because the moment credibility issues come into play, it then means that no one in the country (Nigeria) would be able to trust the judiciary anymore. Look at the former first lady of Nigeria (Mrs Patience Jonathan) who can not defend how she made billions of money that were allegedly seized by the federal government of Nigeria sometime ago which a law court in Nigeria has ordered recently that the money be released to her. Honestly if issues like this are not properly treated then the war on corruption would not be won. Somehow with this verdict most people in Nigeria are beginning to ask questions, are the Nigerian law courts being fair in their dealings with the Nigerian public or are they favouring those big names in their good books? Anyhow it is, we shall continue to plead with the Nigerian law courts to join in fighting the war against corruption because that is the only way the country (Nigeria) can move forward for good. No matter who is involved or how close the person may be to the judge, let honest judgement be delivered.
A HIGH COURT IN NIGERIA ACQUITTING A JUDGE BELIEVED BY MAJORITY OF NIGERIANS TO BE INVOLVED IN CORRUPTION RELATED ISSUES IS A DENT ON THE WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION IN THE COUNTRY (NIGERIA).
