A court in France on Monday, 01 March 2021 sentenced former president Nicolas Sarkozy to three years in prison for corruption and influence peddling. The court suspended two years of the sentence. Ex-president Sarkozy was French president from 2007 to 2012, and was found guilty for trying to obtain information illegally from a senior magistrate about an ongoing investigation into his campaign finances in 2014.
