Wang Min (the ex-Communist Party chief) has been handed a life imprisonment by a court in the central city of Luoyang on Friday, August 4, 2017 for corruption (accepting bribes worth over $22 million). According to the report, the ex- party leader, Wang Min was convicted of bribery, corruption and negligence of duty when he served as a senior official in Jilin and Liaoning provinces between 2004 and 2016. Also Yao Zhongmin, the former head of the supervisory board at China Development Bank has been sentenced to serve 14 years and a fine of 3.5 million Yuan ($520,276) for receiving bribes worth 36.2 million Yuan between 2002 and 2013. The court reduced Yao Zhongmin’s sentence because he assisted with the investigation by admitting guilt and disclosing the whereabouts of the proceeds of his crime. President Xi Jinping has vowed that his administration will eliminate corruption in his country (China).
