A CAR BOMB IMPLANTED BY THE TALIBAN NEAR A HOSPITAL IN SOUTHERN AFGHANISTAN HAS KILLED 20 PEOPLE AND WOUNDED ABOUT 95 OTHERS.

It was reported that a car bomb implanted by the Taliban outside a hospital in the southern city of Qalat (southern Afghanistan) was exploded and killed 20 people on Thursday, 19 September 2019. Also about 95 people were wounded and the building of the National Directorate of Security (NDS) was destroyed by the bomb. According to the report, the Taliban stated that their target was a nearby training base for the country’s powerful security agency, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) in Qalat, the capital of Zabul province. Our correspondent learned that the number of casualties may increase as rescue teams are still searching for the bodies under the rubble. Many women, children, patients and workers in the hospital were wounded in the bomb blast. On Wednesday, about 48 people were killed in two separate attacks in Kabul (Afghanistan capital), one of the attacks was aimed at President Ashraf Ghani’s campaign rally. The Taliban warned recently that they would intensify their attack against the Afghanistan government and foreign forces in order to discourage people from voting in the upcoming presidential election on 28 September 2019 in which President Ghani is running for a second five-year term.
