A 34 year-old Canadian man identified as Jeremy Eaton has been sentenced to life in prison by Philippine authority for selling ecstasy. He was also ordered to pay a fine of 500,000 pesos ($10,000) after the Philippine police arrested him on June in the district of Makati. Jeremy Eaton was arrested along with Damian Berg (Australian) whose case is ongoing. President Rodrigo Duterte’s aggressive drug war which has left over 3,000 people dead has sparked global condemnation for alleged extrajudicial killings.
President Rodrigo Duterte was elected as the president of Philippine in May 2016 and has vowed to restore the death penalty and equally eradicate the drug menace in the country.
