It was reported that a boat carrying migrants bound for Europe, who were trying to flee Libya capsized in the Central Mediterranean Sea off Libya, 24 people were presumed dead. According to the report, the migrants board the Spanish NGO Open Arms vessel and they are from different nationalities mainly from Somalia, Egypt, Morocco, Libya, Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Bangladesh, Senegal, Syria, Palestine, Benin and Tunisia. Safa Msehli (a spokeswoman for the International Organization for Migration) said that Libya’s coast guard intercepted three boats and one of them had capsized. Two dead bodies were found while 22 others were missing and presumed dead. Survivors were taken to a detention center in Tripoli (Libyan capital). This is latest shipwreck carrying African migrants fleeing war and poverty to Europe.
