Laura Hansen, a 22 year old Dutch woman who accompanied her husband to Syria and Iraq to fight with the Islamic State group was on Monday, November 13 convicted of terrorism. According to the information our correspondent gathered, Laura Hansen travelled with her husband to IS-controlled territory in September 2015 and later surrendered in July 2016 to Kurdish Peshmerga fighters near the city of Mosul. She was sentenced to two years in prison by a court in Rotterdam but was acquitted of membership of Islamic state. About 280 Dutch citizens have traveled to Syria and Iraq to fight with Islamic state group and other terrorist groups according to the Netherlands’ main intelligence agency.
