It was reported that eleven (11) iron miners lost their lives recently, two people still missing while twenty three (23) others were rescued after a blast at an iron mine in Benxi, a city in Liaoning province (northeastern China) trapped the workers underground. According to the report, the blast occurred after explosives that were being transported to a mine blew up near the entrance. The mine shaft that is over 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) was damaged, trapping workers who were underground. Those injured have been taken to hospitals for treatment and a search is ongoing for the missing two workers.
