It was reported that not less than three security personnel lost their lives on Friday, March 9, 2018, when a car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in Libyan town of Ajdabiya. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but many believed it was carried out by the Islamic state extremists. Ajdabiya is located west of Benghazi and is under the control of Libyan National Army led by Khalifa Hifter since 2016 it forced the Islamic militants out. Since Libyan 2011 civil war which overthrew and killed Moammar Gadhafi, the country has been in a state of chaos.
