In every part of the world, countries celebrate their traditions which is very alright and acceptable just like we saw recently in Ebonyi state (Nigeria) as governor David Umahi called out almost everyone in the state to take part in the celebration he called Ekubaraoha Urban day on April 1st in Abakaliki Township Stadium (the state capital of Ebonyi state) but with a hidden agenda. If such celebration has something to do with some terrible rituals then it becomes questionable and in our opinion such celebration may be seen as going against the will of God Almighty and should not be allowed. We also saw some horrible masquerades when the Ekubaraoha Urban day was being celebrated and on that same day, governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state declared his intention to contest for the governorship election come 2019.
Now our point is this, governor David Umahi has been in office for quite sometime and all the funds which were supposed to be used to better the living conditions of all the Ebonyi state people are not being used properly. We ask, what is the importance of leading a state if what you are voted to do is not being done? The answer is that the people of Ebonyi state who are the kingmakers will vote you out of office, therefore no one would give governor David Umahi the second chance to lead the state again because the pains he created in Ebonyi state has eaten so deep into the people of Ebonyi state. Again the federal allocation which governor David Umahi collects is for the people of Ebonyi state including the sustainable development fund but more than half of these funds have gone into personal pockets while majority of the people in Ebonyi state remain in abject poverty. When the Paris Loan Refund came, Ebonyi state benefited from this fund up to 8.5 billion Naira but this money has been channeled to private pockets and no one in Ebonyi state is talking about it. Those workers retired from services and the permanent secretaries governor Umahi sacked have not received their gratuities, pensioners are being owed their allowances, and workers’ salaries are not paid in full. How then would the people of Ebonyi state vote for such a person (governor David Umahi) to lead them again? If that happens, it then means that the hardship in the state will continue which the good people of Ebonyi state will not want anymore, enough is enough. Let the people of Ebonyi state try another person, certainly not governor David Umahi. In our (Viewers Corner News) recent visit to various places within Ebonyi state, we discovered that majority of people have no drinking water etc. but when you enter the state capital, the first impression an outsider would get seeing fountains running in some places is that the state is doing quite well but in real sense it is not so. Another troubling issue is this, governor David Umahi’s manipulation to conduct the local government election in his own terms, most people who were interested in the local government chairmanship were made to buy forms and later various local governments in the state were invited to the state government house where they signed an undertaking to support governor David Umahi’s preferred candidates for the local government chairmanship which they did, perhaps because of fear and also some cash gifts were given to them so that governor David Umahi can install his men in all the local governments within the state and this is for his governorship re-election in 2019 based on our findings. Governor David Umahi would want to be re-elected by all means, however the decision to choose who leads the state is entirely with the people of Ebonyi state which we are sure they have already made up their minds to vote governor David Umahi out of office come 2019 because he has not been fair to the people of Ebonyi state. Therefore no matter his manipulations, God Almighty has always the final say. Governor David Umahi was given a chance to put things right for the people of Ebonyi state but he misused the opportunity and trust given to him, hence the people of the state vowed not to return him to power anymore. We are appealing to all the people of Ebonyi state to come out in their large numbers to correct the 2015 mistake and hardship in Ebonyi state by voting governor David Umahi out of office come 2019, this is the only way progress can be achieved in the state.
