SENTIMENTS AND IGNORANCE DUE TO LACK OF INFORMATION ARE PART OF WHAT IS BRINGING NIGERIA BACKWARD. IF NOT, WHY WOULD THE YOUTHS/SOME GROUP OF PEOPLE BE PROTESTING AGAINST THE INVESTIGATION OF MRS. PATIENCE JONATHAN, IS SHE ABOVE THE LAW?

Based on the information before the world, it has already been alleged that the former first lady of Nigeria (Mrs. Patience Jonathan) has lots of corruption issues tied round her neck which also is against the law of the country (Nigeria). Each time such issues are brought forward, certain group of people in Nigeria would start protesting. Is she above the law that she can not be investigated? It is lawful that she should be investigated and if after the investigation, nothing is found then she can be left alone but certainly not the way various groups are going about it in Nigeria each time Mrs. Patience Jonathan’s issue comes up. This is a woman who has never been in business in the past but now among the richest in Nigeria just because her husband was once a deputy governor, a governor and then the president of Nigeria. She has to explain to the Nigerian authorities how she made her wealth. She has also made some conflicting statements in the past which she can not even defend and most questions she was asked concerning the sources of her wealth were not given authentic answers. The most surprising aspect is that most of those individuals protesting and asking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to leave her alone do not even know why they were protesting due to lack of information and awareness. This attitude is part of why Nigeria is backward till today because people do not want the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to touch the people they like or who they know even though the person has committed offence. If we examine it very closely, those protesting are the poor ones who never benefited anything from Mrs. Patience Jonathan when the husband was in power and the wife (Mrs. Patience Jonathan) was busy enriching herself with public money as alleged. We (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to all those people protesting and asking the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to stop going after Mrs. Patience Jonathan to kindly play down a bit on sentiments and I like her sort of attitude, let the law prevail. Please get your facts properly, checked before protesting and do not allow anyone to buy your conscience. Again when Mrs Patience Jonathan’s husband was in power, what were her contributions towards the development of your communities or the country in general? Nothing and you all are there defending her, please let the law prevail because this is the only way sanity can return to Nigeria. The big names in Nigeria who ignored the people who made them what they are today should answer for their alleged crimes if they are called upon to do so because the law is not only for the poor ones in the country (Nigeria). Irrespective of our status in the society, everybody is equal before the law and it is only natural that the same law should also be applied where the big names are in Nigeria and in so doing we can achieve fairness in the country (Nigeria).
