The senate president of Nigeria Bukola Saraki allegedly said that the best brains in Nigeria should be made to take control of public sectors of Nigerian economy and manage it to achieve positive result. He has spoken well but the problem is that the way Nigeria is at the moment which is ruled by different cabals who are in the habit of manipulating the system, how can it be possible for your suggestion to work successfully in the country (Nigeria). Nigeria as a great nation needs to take stock of her activities and know where it went wrong, then find solution to amend those broken parts. Before we continue on Bukola Saraki views on best Nigerian brains, let us make a short story here. Our findings revealed that when the Delta steel complex (Warri) and the Ajaokuta steel company were established, according to the projections given to the federal government of Nigeria by those experts who built the industries, they were believed to be the largest steel companies in Africa which would produce steels both for internal market and export market. Then lots of Nigeria hard earned money was invested into that business which was a very good idea, then at that time the Nigerian government recruited some qualified Nigerians living in oversea countries to come back and assist in managing those steel companies which they did but at the end those qualified Nigerians who left abroad to come back home and manage those companies became frustrated because of cabals manipulating the system which brought in corruption. Some of those less qualified individuals in Nigeria without any knowledge of the job were given the responsibilities to head various departments of the steel companies because they have godfathers while those qualified individuals from abroad were made to work under those less qualified individuals. It was very terrible as at that time, these things happened under ex-president Shehu Shagari’s government of the 80s according to our source which was among the worst democratic government Nigeria ever had since it gained her independence from Britain in 1960. Things were a bit cheaper in the country then but ex-president Shehu Shagari’s government could not manage the resources of the country properly, they spent money recklessly and carelessly during that period and up till now some of those elderly corrupt individuals who destroyed the country (Nigeria) in the past are still holding on to power using the younger ones as mere figure heads which is wrong.
Bukola Saraki spoke well like we mentioned above, somehow speaking alone can not do the magic work but a radical change would have to be undertaken for Nigeria to be great again. Any one who offends the law should be brought to book and those that are being investigated should not be covered irrespective of who is involved and these old corrupt Nigerian politicians should stop dictating to the leaders through their cabals on how the government is going to be run in their own favour. Those that were involved in budget padding should be brought to justice including those that falsify the asset declaration formula, the judiciary system of the country should be reformed and cleansed completely. If the machinery are put in place after the whole system has been overhauled, then the Nigerian best brains as Bukola Saraki (the senate president) proposed would have a clean environment free of corruption. No time is too late to get started, Nigeria as a great nation has real qualified individuals both home and abroad to put things right in the country if given the opportunity to practise their skills.
