UNITED STATES HAVE ISSUED AIRBUS AND BOEING LICENCES TO SUPPLY PASSENGER JETS TO IRAN.

Airbus (French aviation giant) announced on Wednesday, September 21, 2016, that it has obtained a first license from United States to supply passenger jets to Iran. According to the information, Airbus applied for two licenses (which cover A320s and A330s), the first license has been granted while the second one is expected to be granted in the coming week. In January 2016, Airbus signed an agreement to sell 118 aircraft to Iran but because some of the planes’ parts are being manufactured in the United States, the aviation company needed an approval from the United States Office of Foreign Assets Control. Airbus was the first company to sign an agreement with Iran Air. Later the same Wednesday, Boeing (Airbus competitor) also announced that it has obtained a license from the United States government to complete a sale of 80 planes to Iran Air (Iranian national carrier). Iran is in a desperate need to replace the country’s aged commercial aviation fleet after an international sanctions which prevented Western manufacturers from selling equipment and spare parts to Iranian companies was lifted.
