The Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja, Nigeria gathered that Mr. Ahmed Idris, the former Accountant General of Nigeria who allegedly stole billions of naira from the treasury of Nigeria, wants a plea bargain. This is Nigeria for you. Mr. Ahmed Idris was trusted and given such a sensitive position, but in the end, he stole so much from the treasury of Nigeria. Most definitely, he will go unpunished while those with lesser or no offences are still languishing in various prisons in Nigeria. Most prisoners in Nigerian prisons are still awaiting trial, perhaps for an offence they may not have committed. We have also seen ex-governors who were convicted of stealing from the treasury of Nigeria, but after serving for a few months in jail, they are released. Some of them are even planning to come back and contest for another political office. Based on our findings, Nigeria is a place where the rich, including those with connections, will commit an offence and walk away with it. Mr. Ahmed Idris, the former Accountant General of Nigeria, should have been allowed to face the law and, if convicted, should have served a very long jail term for betraying his father’s land by stealing the money belonging to the people of Nigeria. The Viewers Corner News team is calling on the people of Nigeria to vote wisely in 2023 by electing a leader who will fix the economy of Nigeria properly and also allow the rule of law to stand against injustice.
