To form a unity government in Nigeria that would generally be accepted by the people, it has to involve all ethnic groups in the country. Anything less than this arrangement would be seen as a one-sided system of leadership just like we are seeing in Nigeria today. The Viewers Corner News team carefully studied the appointments under the leadership of president Buhari and we found out that most key positions in Nigeria are given to one ethnic minority group. In a population of over 200 million people, this group is just a minority ethnic group. When Dr. Goodluck Jonathan was the president of Nigeria under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party of Nigeria, appointments to key positions were distributed to all ethnic groups. Although PDP/ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s government was a very corrupt one and they did not lead Nigeria well, at least all ethnic groups were represented in that government. There are agitations from almost every ethnic group in Nigeria, accusing president Buhari and his government of working for the Fulani ethnic group. Killings of innocent Nigerians have gone out of hand by those believed to be Fulani terrorist herdsmen and nothing is being done to put an end to such ugly incidents happening on a daily basis in Nigeria. Some Nigerians who wrote to Viewers Corner News office said that the awareness created in Nigeria has opened people’s eyes to understand the tricks of what the leadership of Nigeria is all about. They also said that voting for a particular group of people who they thought were working for the best interest of all Nigerians would not work anymore because if they are elected into office, their agenda changes to favour their own people. Now that the majority of the people of Nigeria have known these tricks, things will change for good, most especially in the voting process. The Viewers Corner News team would also take this opportunity to implore President Buhari and his government, as well as those who will take over when President Buhari’s term ends, to always form a government that includes all ethnic groups in the country. If all ethnic groups in Nigeria are represented in the country’s leadership, issues of exclusion will be resolved, particularly in appointments to various key positions in Nigeria. Again, the Viewers Corner News team believe that what is happening in Nigeria at the moment would guide the people of the country into electing a leader who would work for the best interests of all the people of the country where issues of unemployment and injustice would properly be addressed and be put to an end because it is one of the reasons of insecurity across Nigeria.
