Babatunde Fashola

4.6 BILLION NAIRA ALLEGEDLY PAID TO PRIVATE BANK ACCOUNTS FROM THE MINISTRY OF POWER, WORKS AND HOUSING BETWEEN SEPTEMBER AND DECEMBER 2019. HOW COME?

Mr Babatunde Fashola was the minister of power, works and housing between September to December 2019 when the alleged money to the tune of 4.6 billion Naira was said to have been paid to the private bank accounts of some top government officials from the ministry of power, works and housing. Nigerians both home and abroad demand to know how such huge amount of money got into the private bank accounts of those top government officials because it was alleged that the money belong to the federal government of Nigeria but was cornered by some individuals. Things like this are the reasons Nigeria can not move forward and could lead to recession. If money meant to execute projects are diverted into private bank accounts of top government officials, how then can the country (Nigeria) carry out the activities of nation building? Until those who are engaged in corruption in Nigeria are properly prosecuted and severely punished when found guilty, if not corruption may not be eradicated in the country (Nigeria). Again, no matter the position anyone is occupying, if you embezzle or steal government money, severe punishment should be given to such individual. Nigerian politicians would steal, be prosecuted and convicted, then after serving few months in jail they would be released instead of allowing them to serve all their jail terms. Such privileges should not be given to them at all because they are criminals who should stay in jail for a very long time for destroying the economy of the country (Nigeria) through stealing. Part of these reasons are why the country (Nigeria) keep borrowing money that would not be used to execute vital projects because it keeps going into private pockets and more of these funds could also be hidden somewhere in other places which may not be found. Nigerian politicians need a change of attitude for the country (Nigeria) to move forward.
