It was reported that Britain and Canada on Saturday, 21 November 2020 signed post Brexit Trade Continuity deal worth $27 billion. The countries agreed to maintain the flow of goods and services between the two countries after Britain finally leave the European Union at the end of this year. They also vowed to deepen relations with talks on a bespoke agreement in 2021. Britain’s Department for International Trade through its minister Liz Truss said that the agreement to roll over the EU-Canada trading arrangement would pave way for negotiations to begin in 2021 on deals that would cover several areas like digital trade, the environment and women’s economic empowerment. The Trade minister also stated that the agreement would prevent an estimated 42 million pounds worth of tariffs being applied on goods like cars, beef and fish.
