MAURICE STRONG, THE CANADIAN FORMER DIRECTOR OF UNITED NATION’S ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM IS DEAD.

Viewers Corner was informed from Ottawa that Maurice Strong (86 years), the Canadian environmentalist and former director of the United Nations Environment program is dead.
Mr. Strong presided over the United Nations Stockholm conference on the human environment  in 1972 and the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992 which led to the launch of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. He was also the President of Canadian Power Corporation in the 60s and also served as the chairman and CEO of Petro-Canada. He was born on April 29, 1929 and died on November 28, 2015.
Viewers Corner’s condolence goes to Maurice Strong’s family and may his soul rest in peace.
