Alexei Navalny, Russian opposition leader has been taken out of coma and doctors treating him said that he is responsive. He (Alexei Navalny) is receiving treatment at Berlin’s Charite hospital in Germany. German authorities said that he was poisoned with a chemical nerve agent from the Novichok group. His doctors said that he is responding to verbal stimuli but too early to find out the potential long term effects of the poison. The British authorities identified the Soviet-era Novichok and stated that the poison was used on Sergei Skripal (ex-Russian spy) and his daughter in England in 2018. The European Union, NATO and some Western governments have called for an explanation from Russian government, but President Vladimir Putin’s government has denied the allegations. Angela Merkel (German Chancellor) said that the poisoning was an attempt to silence President Putin’s strong critic and called for a full investigation. Alexei Navalny, Russian opposition leader fell sick on 20 August 2020 while on a flight from Siberia to Moscow. He was flew to Berlin (Germany) on August 22.
