IRAN SENTENCED EIGHT ACTIVISTS TO PRISON FOR ALLEGEDLY SPYING FOR THE UNITED STATES AND ACTING AGAINST IRAN’S NATIONAL SECURITY.

It was reported that eight environmental activists including Morad Tahbaz (an Iranian who has British and American citizenship) were recently sentenced to prison for allegedly spying for the United States and acting against Iran’s national security. The activists were arrested in 2018 and their jail terms ranges from four to ten years. Morad Tahbaz and Niloufar Bayani (two of the activists) were sentenced to 10 years each and were ordered to return the money they allegedly received from the United States government for their services. Houman Jokar and Taher Ghadirian got eight years jail term each, while Sam Rajabi, Sepideh Kashan Doust and Amirhossein Khaleghi Hamidi were sentenced to six years in prison each. The last activist, Abdolreza Kouhpayeh got four years jail term.
