According to Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei (Iranian judiciary spokesman), Xiyue Wang (37 year old U.S. dual national and a graduate student from Princeton University) was sentenced to 10 years in prison by an Iranian court for spying. Xiyue Wang who was born in China but was naturalized as an American citizen was accused of spying under the cover of research. The U.S. State Department accused Iran of fabricating national security-related charges to detain Americans and other foreigners and called for the immediate release of all U.S. citizens unjustly detained in Iran so they could return to their families. Princeton university said that Wang is a doctoral candidate at the university, specializing in late 19th and early 20th century Eurasian history and was in Iran to research the late Qajar dynasty. Viewers Corner News team learned that many dual nationals from the United States, France, Austria, Britain and Canada have been detained in the past year by Iran and are being kept on charges including espionage.
