The visit of South African president, Zuma is a welcome news, this would strengthen the relationship between the two countries. Viewers Corner call this a historical visit because some months ago, South Africa was in the news world wide when her citizens took the laws of their country into their own hands by beating, chasing and killing almost all the African brothers and sisters in their country which brought lots of negative criticisms to the country (South Africa). Even some of the law makers in south Africa did not condemn such terrible atrocities as most people would have expected which was very wrong but they later realized their mistakes. The citizens of South Africa went too far by carrying all sorts of terrible instruments they could lay hands on to kill their African brothers and sisters forgetting that during the apartheid, lots of countries in Africa sacrificed so much to see them get out of the bondage which the south African minority whites subjected them to. Now that freedom has come to the country, they do not want people to come into their country (South Africa). Again like we mentioned above, we believe that they have realized their mistakes, we pray and hope that such ugly incident would not repeat itself again. Everyone should learn to live together as one big family, this is the essence of life.
Another interesting part of President Zuma’s speech when he was addressing the joint session of the Nigeria National Assembly was this, he said that he acknowledged the sacrifices Nigeria as a nation and the citizens of Nigeria gave to south Africa during the time of apartheid to make sure that they regained their freedom, such words are very emotional considering what happened during that period of apartheid when the owners of the land (south African blacks) were not allowed to have control of anything. This remark made by President Zuma was beautiful and Viewers corner cherished that so much. The practice during apartheid period was the worst type of humiliation to mankind and that was also next to slavery but thank God Almighty that the country South Africa regained their freedom at last and for President Zuma of South Africa to have realized the efforts and sacrifices made by Nigeria and other countries around the world so that peace and freedom will come to their country is highly appreciated. We (Viewers Corner) would advise that all African countries should cooperate more as one big family and share ideas together that would bring business to various countries in the continent. The African leaders should create possibilities for the citizens of their countries to grow and live a normal and happy life, this is the essence of good living.
